About

Chris has worked as a professional software engineer since 2006, spending his first six years in industry before transitioning into astronomy. He obtained both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Central Florida, writing a thesis on using machine learning to model human behavior. His career has taken him through large scale full cycle web development to artificial intelligence research and finally into astronomy operations and research. Prior to joining the CfA as a Computer Engineer, Chris worked at the Space Telescope Science Institute for six years as a Senior Systems Software Engineer on the Astronomer's Proposal Tool, and the Software Engineering Lead for the Makidon Optics Lab. Since joining the CfA in 2018, he spent his first three years with the Submillimeter Array specializing in data correlation, project management and software best practices. Beginning in 2021, Chris now works for Central Engineering, and has currently taken the influential role of Technical Manager for the Minor Planet Center.
