Kari Haworth
About
Kari Haworth began her engineering career on the west coast writing communications satellite software. She then moved to engineering in the broadcom industry before returning to space at the MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research, where she served as the instrument firmware lead for the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). In 2018, Kari joined the Event Horizon Telescope group at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory where she worked with the next-generation Event Horizon Telescope (ngEHT) team to develop instrumentation to capture videos of black holes. Kari moved on to run the Central Engineering Department, and in 2022, was appointed Associate Director of Technology and Engineering.
