John Asher Johnson
About
John Johnson is a Professor of Astronomy at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian. John's research history involves detection and observation exoplanets, gathering data, and the design and building of instruments used in the hunt for worlds beyond our solar system.
John is deeply involved in efforts to increase the representation of African Americans, and other under-represented groups, in the astronomical sciences. To that end, he created the Banneker Institute at Harvard, a 10-week summer programs to prepare talented undergraduates for top graduate programs in astronomy.
John Johnson is a Founding PI on the MINERVA project.
