Announcement of the Next Generation Event Horizon Telescope Design Program

EHT sites that participated in the groundbreaking 2017 observing campaign that produced the first black hole image are labeled in yellow and they are connected by magenta lines. Additional sites that will come on line in 2020 are shown in orange. Several possible new site locations for the ngEHT are labeled in blue with similarly colored lines connecting them to other sites. The added connections will allow the ngEHT to make black hole images and movies that are sharper than ever before.
