CfA Opens Its Doors to the Public This Spring

The Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics will continue its decades-long tradition of holding free events for the public, called Observatory Nights, this spring. The latest line up features some of the most exciting results and upcoming missions in astrophysics. These topics include last fall's discovery of a merging neutron star producing gravitational waves, the first imaging of the event horizon of a black hole, and sending a mission closer to the Sun than ever before. Each speaker is a CfA scientist who is an expert in their respective field, giving the public an opportunity to hear from and interact with those at the forefront at cutting-edge research.

For Observatory Nights, doors open at 7:00 pm and the main presentation begins at 7:30. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. As always, rooftop viewing led by local amateur astronomers will follow the talks when weather permits.
