Observatory Night: Our Cosmic Relatives

We invite you to join us this Thursday, November 18 at 7:30 pm for a public lecture by Dr. Anna Frebel titled "Our Cosmic Relatives: The Oldest Stars in the Universe."

There are stars in our own Milky Way galaxy that are almost as old as the Universe itself, which is nearly 14 billion years. Anna Frebel will present some of those stellar fossils, and show what we can learn from studying them. This includes the origin and evolution of the chemical elements from which we humans and the world around us are made. With the telescope on the roof, we can look at some of these ancient stars, because they are still shining strong even today.

If weather permits, rooftop viewing through telescopes will follow the lecture.

This program (which is intended for high school ages and adults) takes place at Phillips Auditorium, 60 Garden Street, Cambridge. Doors open at (or before) 7 pm and seating is first-come, first-served. Admission is free.
