Spring Public Events Schedule Now Online

Observatory Night lectures will take place on the third Thursday of the month from January through May. Topics will include a new view of the Sun, why we should send astronauts to the asteroids, and the 100th anniversary of Henrietta Leavitt's groundbreaking discovery of Cepheid variable stars, which let us measure the size of our galaxy and ultimately the local
universe.

We will also hold a special event to view the planet Venus crossing the face
of the Sun (transit) on Tuesday, June 5 from 6:00 pm until the sun sets at
8:20. The full list of events can be found
online.

Note that all of these programs (except the Venus transit) will be webcast live from a link available on the page above. We invite you to join us.
