José is a program manager who is leading the execution of the next generation event horizon telescope (ngEHT) at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. This effort expands the capabilities of the event horizon telescope (EHT), which produced the first image of a black hole in 2019. Before SAO, José led the development of the GridStar Flow battery at Lockheed Martin, a large-scale, long-duration energy storage system. Prior to that, José led efforts on US Navy H-60 helicopters as both a system engineer and program manager. In his free time, he likes playing the piano and spending time with his wife and daughter.
