About
I am an astronomy educator and Instructional Systems Specialist working in the Science Education Department (SED). I lead a number of national astronomy and physical science education projects funded by the National Science Foundation, NASA, the Smithsonian Institution, and various foundations. Our group focuses on the research and development of inquiry-based science learning experiences for a variety of audiences and settings: exhibits and programs for museums and after school environments, technology-based curricula for classroom settings, citizen science activities for public audiences, and online teacher professional development programs. All our projects build on the education research literature and our own findings about what works in science education, and are inspired by the amazing science that happens at the Center for Astrophysics. Prior to coming to the CfA, I worked for many years at the Museum of Science in Boston, in both the Education and Exhibits departments.
