Weizhen Hou is a physicist at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO), part of the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian. With a Ph.D. in Cartography and Geographic Information Systems and a master in Operational Research and Cybernetics, his career spans over a decade, including roles as a postdoctoral fellow and research associate professor. Dr. Hou specializes in atmospheric (hyperspectral and polarimetric) remote sensing , focusing on aerosol monitoring and environmental applications. He has contributed to high-profile projects such as NASA's Tropospheric Emissions: Monitoring of Pollution (TEMPO). His work is recognized by numerous awards, including NASA's Group Achievement Award for TEMPO in 2024.
