Post-doctoral Research Fellow

About

Julia joined the CfA in September 2024 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow working on strong gravitational lensing for astrometric determinations. Her primary goal is to analyze multi-wavelength observations of strongly lensed quasars in a quest to find evidence for dual and binary active galactic nuclei (AGN). Julia’s doctoral research focused on the use of high-resolution X-ray spectroscopy of AGN to probe fundamental physics - in particular, axions, and supermassive black hole spin, where she primarily worked with Chandra and carried out case studies with future X-ray missions, including the Athena X-ray Observatory. Her interests cover AGN physics, dark matter and axions, accretion onto black holes and other compact objects, and astrophysical magnetic fields.

PhD. in Astronomy - Institute of Astronomy, University of Cambridge (2024); Integrated Master's in Physics, The University of Manchester (2020)
