About

Scott Paine has been affiliated with the Submillimeter Array radio interferometer on Maunakea, Hawaii, since its development and construction, and is a member of the project team for the CMB-S4 cosmic microwave background experiment.  His research interests include advancing instrumentation and techniques for radio astronomy, and measuring, modeling, and statistically characterizing radiative properties of the Earth’s atmosphere having broad application to radio astronomy and Earth remote sensing.  His related work has included instrument design and deployment in field campaigns for astronomical site testing and atmospheric radiation studies, and development of software tools for modeling atmospheric radio propagation and radiative transfer.
