About
Dom Pesce studies the supermassive black holes (SMBHs) in the centers of galaxies, primarily using very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) observations. For the past several years, Dom has been a member of the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) collaboration, where he works to develop techniques for modeling and imaging the horizon-scale emission from the sky's largest SMBHs. He is also a member of the Megamaser Cosmology Project (MCP), which uses VLBI observations of water masers in orbit around SMBHs to measure distances to the objects and thereby constrain the Hubble constant. His work modeling MCP and EHT data has led him to develop a deeper interest in VLBI as a measurement process, and some of his recent research is directed towards furthering our understanding of the nature and statistical properties of VLBI data products.
